Septic Tanks
HOW YOUR SEPTIC SYSTEM WORKS
A septic system has two basic parts: a septic tank & a soil absorption field or drainfield. Wastes flow from the house into the septic tank.
Here, most solids are separated to the bottom & are partially decomposed by bacteria to form sludge. Some solids float & form a scum mat on top of the water.
The liquid effluent from the septic tank, carrying disease-causing organisms & liquid waste products, is discharged into the soil absorption field.
Here the water is further purified by filtration & decomposition by microorganisms in the soil. The semi-purified wastewater then percolates to the groundwater system. |

SEPTIC SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
How the Septic Tank Functions
The typical septic tank is a large, buried, rectangular, or cylindrical container made of concrete, fiberglass, or polyethylene. Wastewater from your toilet, bath, kitchen, laundry, etc., flows into the tank. Heavy solids settle to the bottom where bacterial action partially decomposes them to digested sludge & gases. Most of the lighter solids, such as fats & grease, rise to the top & form a scum layer. |
DRAIN CLEANING
We maintain all the necessary equipment to service and clear your plugged or slow drains. Pipeline Inspection - By utilizing color video technology, our trained technicians can inspect the inside of your sewer pipe. This service is especially useful in determining if the blockage was completely removed and if the pipe is cracked, broken, or collapsed. We also can create a video of the pipe. This allows the condition of the pipe to be reviewed by other technicians or a spouse at a later time. It can also be used as a tool before purchasing a house.
Locating - By using a sonde (radio transmitter) that is attached to a sewer cable or camera head, a signal is sent from inside the pipe to a receiver. This receiver is operated by a trained technician and can tell the technician the location of the pipe under the ground. It can also calculate the depth of the pipe. This information is useful when it is necessary to pin-point a damaged section of pipe, or when trying to connect a new pipe into an existing pipe . We can design a maintenance program to keep your drains running clear. Also ask about "Bio-Clean" and "RootX", environmentally safe drain maintenance products only available from licensed plumbing companies.
REPIPING
One of our specialties is the re-plumbing of existing, occupied homes and businesses. When rusty and coagulating pipes begin to close off your water supply or have simply leaked when and where they shouldn't have ...call us. We can restore the function and value to your plumbing system. We install all types of piping systems including copper and our plastic of choice, WIRSBO a cross-linked polyethylene pipe.

How To Use Bio-Clean
In Nature all animal and vegetable matter, from insects to mighty oaks, is broken down and recycled into plant food by enzymes and bacteria. BIO-CLEAN uses this same principle to biodegrade animal and vegetable waste in pipes.
Like all living things, bacteria must eat to survive. Fortunately certain types of bacteria will use for food the grease, hair, soap film and all the organic waste that tend to clog peoples drains.
Enzymes act like short order cooks. They prepare food for bacteria by breaking large molecules down into a size the bacteria can "swallow." Each enzyme works on one specific type of molecule. For example, the protease enzyme only works on protein. Lipase works only on fats.
The bacteria in BIO-CLEAN are dormant while in the jar. When mixed with water they come to life in about 30 minutes. In the meantime the enzymes are breaking down the waste. They are very fast. In fact, they work on contact. When the bacteria revive they are hungry. Each one eats its weight of waste every minute - and they never sleep! As a result of eating and growing they start to multiply through cell division. Their number will double every 30 minutes under favorable conditions.
BIO-CLEAN should be mixed with warm (not hot) water and applied when no water will be drained for six to eight hours. This allows some of the bacteria time to embed themselves into the waste so they won't be washed out when water is drained again. Complete instructions are inside each container.
Periodic maintenance treatments prevent new organic waste build-up, so no more slow drains or clogs!
What is Bio-Clean ?
BIO-CLEAN is... a blend of bacteria and enzymes. The bacteria are natural, not genetically-engineered. The enzyme concentration is the most powerful on the market.
SAFE
Bio-Clean is non-poisonous. It creates no heat, no fumes, no boiling. It does not attack live tissue nor inorganic materials, only organic wastes like grease, hair, food particles, paper, cotton & sewage. This makes BIO-CLEAN safe for people, plumbing and the environment. BIO-CLEAN changes the waste particles into water, carbon dioxide and mineral ash which run harmlessly out of your waste system. These elements are then available for plant life.
EFFECTIVE
Within an hour after pouring the bacteria into the drain, the bacteria begin to eat their way into the waste that has accumulated on the sides and top of the drain pipe. This is their natural food. They digest the waste and spread throughout your system, cleaning it completely.

WIRSBO AQUAPEX TUBING
Water ... a necessity in life that we sometimes take for granted. We use it daily for nourishment, cooking, bathing, washing dishes and laundry — the list goes on. The delivery of this essential element is also something that we take for granted. Until that dreadful day when the pipes begin to corrode, leak and your home must be re-piped. Or worse ... when you realize harmful substances from metal pipes can leach into the drinking water.
With Wirsbo AQUAPEX®, you can depend on a proven and reliable plumbing system. Unlike traditional metal plumbing, Wirsbo uses flexible PEX tubing for water distribution. This clean plumbing system has been tested and installed around the world for over 30 years. What's even more remarkable is that Wirsbo PEX tubing has a life expectancy of more than 100 years when used under normal operating conditions. That kind of dependability speaks for itself.
So, as you think about your house plans, think about the type of plumbing system you want for your family. Safe. Dependable. Trusted. That's what Wirsbo AQUAPEX® can offer.
PEX Tubing
The backbone of Uponor's radiant floor heating, PEX plumbing, and fire protection systems is the tubing. Since it is covered after installation, it's important to choose a quality, proven product made by a reputable manufacturer. Uponor offers Wirsbo AQUAPEX® tubing for our PEX plumbing and fire protection systems.
PEX is an acronym for cross-linked polyethylene 1. Polyethylene is the raw material and the "X" refers to the cross-linking of the polyethylene across its molecular chains.
An Uponor PEX plumbing system is common sense and it's very installer-friendly. Consider the flexibility that eliminates many of the joints necessary with rigid plumbing systems. PEX coils are lighter and easier to handle than awkward rigid metal pipe materials. AQUAPEX® represents the evolution of better technologies and systems, and plumbing, like any other industry, needs to keep moving forward.
Cross Linking and Engel Method PEX
There are several different types of PEX on the market. Uponor PEX is classified as PEX A or Engel method PEX. The Engel method is a hot cross-linking process, meaning the cross-linking takes place during the extrusion (formation) process when the base polyethylene is above its crystal melting temperature. Engel method PEX provides the most control over consistency and uniformity of cross-linking, meaning no weak links in the tubing.
